GingerCat AI Chat Exporter helps you export supported AI chats from ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini into local files. Basic exports are processed in your browser.

What GingerCat does

The extension reads the chat from the AI service page you already have open and generates export files locally in your browser. Supported export formats include PDF, DOCX, Markdown, HTML, TXT and JSON.

Chat content

We do not upload, store, sell or read your conversations for basic export. We do not send chat content to third-party analytics or AI services for basic export.

On supported AI sites, the extension may read the currently open chat from the page or from the provider's own session APIs to create a complete local export. This data stays between your browser and the original AI provider where the chat already exists; it is not sent to us.

Permissions

GingerCat uses narrow permissions for the Chrome extension: activeTab, scripting and storage. The extension does not request cookies, webRequest, debugger or broad all-sites access through <all_urls>.

Supported sites

The current release is optimized for ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini web chats. Content scripts run only on supported AI chat pages.

Local storage

The extension may store lightweight local preferences or state in your browser, such as selected export settings. This is not used to store your exported chat content on our servers.

Analytics and tracking

GingerCat does not use hidden tracking of chat content. If we add website analytics later, it will be used for aggregate website traffic only and will not include chat content.

Future AI features

Future optional features such as AI summaries or context packs may require sending selected content to an AI service. Those features are not part of basic local export and will require clear disclosure before use.
